"April Snow Shadows" painted from inside my car looking out. My intention this bright sunny afternoon was to paint a sweet little road scene, the road I was parked on. In fact, I had actually started drawing out my shapes for the road scene and spent 15 minutes doing so but was totally distracted by the brilliant blue snow shadows to my left. While I was trying to focus on the road ahead, my head kept turning and looking left at these incredible shadows, while at the same time getting extremely frustrated with what I was actually painting. I kept thinking, "I wonder how I would make that shadow color? . . " When finally the DUH light bulb went off! I wiped out my road and turned and painted what I most curious about, "what is the color of those shadows!?".
Lesson of the day: Paint what most sparks your curiosity and it'll be authentic!
